"Diversity Works"
A Fascinating, Entertaining, Educational Card Game
Denise Bailey, founder and President of Cultural Concepts, Inc. is the inventor and creative force behind "Diversity Works", a card game which highlights information from more than 60 different cultures. This entertaining and fascinating card game with educational facts embodies cultural differences, customs, and traditions and has an ever growing global patron list since making its global debut at the 53rd Annual National Stationery Show's, "Best New Product Display", at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City (May 1999). The card game, for ages 8 - Adult, was the first of its kind to focus strictly on the topic of
ethnic and cultural diversity.
Ms. Bailey, the creative genius behind the whole concept, designed the material in an entertaining game format, with the desire to assist in promoting racial tolerance and understanding amongst young people and adults by sharing cultural information. A former High School English teacher, Denise recognized the need for a product that could focus on the understanding and respect of different cultures, while providing the core components of a child's development by encouraging social relationships, emotional self-esteem, and intellectual growth.
According to a statement by the Toy Manufacturers of America, "research indicates that parents and care-givers continue to look to the toy industry to supply their children with toys that stimulate a child's development, including social skills, learning capabilities, creative enrichment... and just plain fun."
Cultural Concepts, Inc., was formed with the assistance of a diverse group of individuals with Egyptian, African-American, Norwegian and Swedish roots. "Our mission is to foster appreciation, understanding and respect for different cultures through the development of our products. We saw the benefit in children and adults learning more about one another in an informative and entertaining manner", said Ms. Bailey. "The appeal of 'Diversity Works" is that the product transcends racial and ethnic lines because of its inclusion of all groups!"
